SwissRacingTeam rolls out Lamborghini Murciélago GT1 car - the STORY

Only two more weeks before the first race of the FIA GT1 World Championship for 2011 will start in Abu Dhabi, and the Swiss Racing Team (SRT in Inwil) rolled out two amazing raging bull that will compete in the series this year.

Both cars are still 'plain body' units for now, but I'm sure these will be covered with sponsors over the next two weeks, but back to the roll out in France were both Karl Wenlinger and Max Nilsson could get eye to eye with their new race cars.

The first test sessions went smoothly, without any problems under an open sky with lots of sunshine and dry track conditions, a perfect setting to get acquainted with these Raging Bulls by clocking some test kilometers in optimum conditions on an uncluttered circuit.

At this moment both cars are being prepared for transport by airplane to the UAE (United Arab Emirates) were the two initial drivers will be accompanied by two more pilots whose names will be communicated soon by SRT.

Othmar Welti, team principal for SRT, was very happy with these first tests, the team at Reiter Engineering created another masterpiece specifically for GT1 racing and delivered the cars in pristine condition to SRT who drove Nissan in a non-satisfying 2010 season by the way … Mr Welti even stated : “we are very happy with the rollout … I am confident that the Lamborghini provide a good base for being more successful than last season.”

At the moment neither of these two Raging Bulls have been thoroughly tested due to lack of time, but the first real taste of the massive potential of these Lamborghini will be obtained on March 23rd during the tests in Abu Dhabi … over the previous weeks times have been difficult to put the change to Lamborghini on track, but in the end it all worked out perfectly and both the team and the cars are ready to go head to head with the fierce competition in the 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship.

Lamborghini presents the Gallardo Nera at the Paris Motor Show

A special edition of the super sports car with limited production of 185 units

Automobili Lamborghini has unveiled its new, exclusive model, the “Gallardo Nera”, which is based on the Gallardo Coupé Model Year 07. This special edition model, limited to 185 units, is an impressive showcase for the extensive individualisation options offered by Lamborghini’s personalisation service “ad personam”, which transforms each and every Lamborghini into a unique vehicle.

Ad personam provides a wealth of options for enhancing the interior and body of the vehicle according to specific personal tastes. Other individualisation requirements can also be met, such as special colour paintwork. This allows the customer to create a unique sports car that reflects his personality and satisfies his own style down to the smallest detail.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Nera, which is available in the basic colours “Nero Serapis” and “Nero Noctis”, features special paintwork in matt black on the side mirrors, rear spoiler, rear body panels, roof, selected front panels and on the door sills and rear apron. Additional details such as matt black rims in the “Callisto” design with the Lamborghini logo, brake callipers in silver, white side indicator lenses and darkened tail lights complement the martial look of the exterior.

The interior is styled in the colours “Nero Perseus” and “Bianco Polar” using the “bicolour sportive” equipment variant. A further “Branding Package” and the ad personam equipment package provide additional distinctive touches. The “Leather II” variant in “Bianco Polar” includes leather trims for the climate control operating panel, handbrake and gear lever console in addition to the inner door handles and seat side cushions. The seats boast rhomboidal stitching in the “Q-citura” pattern, which can also be found on the Alcantara roof lining, door trims and the partition wall between the seats and the engine compartment. Instrument rings and decorative stitching on the steering wheel, plus white piping on the seats and mats, round off the modifications in the interior.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Nera includes, as standard, a navigation system, rearview camera, on-board computer, alarm system, lifting system and a made-tomeasure vehicle cover. Optional equipment for the model includes the e-gear automatic transmission, an engine hood with transparent glass panels, a Bluetooth-compatible radio and carbon-ceramic brakes.

Like the Lamborghini Gallardo Coupè MY07, the Lamborghini Gallardo “Nera” boasts the established V10-cylinder engine with a displacement of 4,961 cc and an output of 382 kW (520 hp). It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 315 km/h. The drive train of the mid-engine sports car includes permanent all-wheel drive, based on Lamborghini’s proven VT (viscous traction) system.

The new Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

The sportiest and most ‘purist’ Gallardo ever

The new more powerful and lightweight series leader

With the Gallardo Superleggera, Automobili Lamborghini presents an uncompromisingly high-performance sports car. Thanks to increased power (an additional 10 hp) and a 100 kg reduction in weight (USA 70 kg), the new range-leading Gallardo Superleggera is even more dynamic than the already very sporty Gallardo. The weight/power ratio of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is only 2.5 kg/hp, which puts it unquestionably at the top.

The Superleggera also has the fastest acceleration in its class. It needs only 3.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph); 0.2 seconds less than the basic model, and boasting speed and grit under other driving conditions.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is an extremely high-performance car: it includes a standard robotized mechanical ‘e-gear’ gearbox that guarantees shifting without removing hands from the steering wheel. The new Gallardo Superleggera can be ordered through the dealer network starting March 2007: production volumes will be restricted to lower numbers than the standard Gallardo.
More power thanks to technological developments
The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera’s engine is the latest version of Lamborghini’s well-known 4,961 cm3 V10. Now 530 hp is reached in 8,000 min-1. The increase in power was made possible by the engine’s improved volumetric efficiency through reduced intake load losses and by exhaust backpressures, together with optimized electronic control. Naturally, emission levels observe the strict EURO 4 and LEV II standards.
Higher power thanks to lighter construction
Lamborghini engineers decreased the Lamborghini Gallardo’s already low weight when empty (1,430 kg) by another 100 kg using advanced materials and technologies. The engine hood is made of visible carbon fiber and transparent polycarbonate, a type of material that guarantees lightness and also shows off the magnificent V10. The rear diffuser and underbody covering, the rearview mirrors, door panels and the central tunnel’s covering are also made of carbon fiber. Further reductions in weight were achieved by replacing certain glass surfaces with transparent polycarbonate. For the interior, monocoque carbon fiber sports seats covered in Alcantara® were chosen to ensure restraint of the driver and passenger during the intense lateral accelerations that the Gallardo Superleggera is capable of achieving around curves.
Exclusive specification and options range
A comprehensive specification and extensive range of options will be available, with some exclusive to the Superleggera. The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera comes with robotized mechanical e-gear as standard; a sports package including shock absorbers; and special suede-covered steering wheel. The car is available in four colors: Midas Yellow, Borealis Orange, Telesto Gray and Noctis Black. Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires (standard) on new Scorpius forged rims accentuate the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. A few of the options that can be requested include the multimedia system with navigator and CD-changer; a rear video camera to make parking easier (with optional rear wing only); a Carbon accessories kit for the interior; a fixed rear spoiler; a four-point seatbelt (not for USA); tubular rear frame or fitting points for later inclusion (not for USA, Japan or Middle East); and carbon-ceramic brakes.

Milan, 23rd June 2008 – Versace and Lamborghini, collaborators since 2006, proudly announce the launch of the new Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640 Roadster VERSACE and a unique collection of accessories, both to be previewed for the first time at the Maison’s Via Gesù 12, Milan on Monday June 23rd, 2008.
To create the new super roadster, the Maison Versace's designers joined forces with designers from the Lamborghini Design Centre (Centro Stile)and specialists working on the "ad personam" project. This Lamborghini program allows individual clients to create personalised sports cars, choosing the equipment specification, the colour of the exterior body and of the interior fittings.

The new limited edition Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640 Roadster VERSACE, which will be produced to order, displays a pastel white livery and the Versace Greek key motif on the lower part of the door. Equipped for the very first time with a transparent engine hood that reveals the powerful V12 engine, this model has been reconfigured internally. The cradle seats are clad in black and white leather, while opulent full grain soft nappa leather – hand-embroidered with the Versace Greek fret motif - upholsters the instrument panel, the doors and the central console.

The rigorous design and minimal lines of the Murciélago engine hood inspired the Versace Collection LP 640 range of accessories, which will also be previewed for the first time globally. Exclusively crafted in black matte calf skin, models include: a trolley bag, suit carrier, sports bag, as well as a briefcase, suitcase, gloves, driving shoes, belt, wallet, key ring, beauty case, hat and a pair of jeans. These hand-made accessories boast traditional craftsmanship, stitching and edging à la française and a palladium-engraved tag displaying both the Versace and Lamborghini logos.

This prestigious accessory collection will be exclusively available at Versace Boutiques and selected Lamborghini showrooms beginning in November 2008.

Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., said: "Our collaboration with Versace turned out to be an excellent experience and is an example of how we are pursuing our strategy of developing luxury products outside of luxury sports cars. We are proud to be in this prestigious, Made in Italy partnership with Versace, which adds to our other recent successes."
